J A D E S O N G , The halfbridge had always been a place of retreat for the gentle tawny - colored warrior. Though she had needed little time alone, it was one place she could count on when, events in her relatively simple life, went wrong. It seemed now not all was content in this she - cat's life, for this very sun - rise she had found herself slinking out of camp. Her trustworthy paws had guided her, as she always let them do, and she was very much suprised to find that her route was directed to this very place.
Now she sat, pondering. Was it the absence of love? The lack of mentorship? Perhaps, dare she admit it, little knowledge of a true friendship? She thought it likely that any of these could be contributing factors to her need to visit her rather sacred section of the territory. Yet, was there something more? Something a little deeper? The river caught her eye. The water flowed beneath her, the trickling motion of the river over rocks setting her heart at ease; slowing the pace of her whirling mind. Oh, how it captured her gaze, filling it with an intensity that had never, and would never, be seen by any cat.
It seemed to taunt her, the path was unknown to her, after a certain point, and she needed to know where it led. Bewildered by conditions out of her control, she found herself desperate to regain some dominance in her life. Even if it meant going on a possibly strange and short adventure. Slipping off the bridge in a graceful leap that served to send her shoulder - deep into thick and springy grass, she made her way further and further upstream. Why couldn't everything in life be this pleasant? Even the trees seemed to be echoing her sighing, and she gazed in pleasure at their waving branches. Then stopped.
Instead of drooping branches adorned with velvet, mint - green leaves, these were darker. More forboding, if a tree could indeed have that sort of presence. Her heart pounding, her breath catching in her scrawny chest, she turned, almost tumbling over her own paws. Her paws squelched as she did so, and this drew her eyes down, intent on the ground. It was marshy. Marshy and soft, with little firmness to the earth. 'Oh, StarClan, save me,' her voice was ragged as though she had been sprinting for many sunrises.
But surely there was still time. Time to run, or to hide, or to simply curl into a ball and sit oh so still. A crack issued from behind her, like that of a firestick, it seemed, though when she whirled on her paws, again, no being was present. At least no visible being, the dark thought crept into her head. Were ShadowClan able to make themselves invisible? In her normal state, she would not have thought in this rather presumptous manner; but scared beyond belief, her imagination was running wild.
OOC: Kinda a little wierd with the whole river-capturing-her-eyes thing, sorry. But, eh, who am I to try to stop the flow of my rambling mind?

Violetwhisper Break down, ya really want it? Wanna make a scene? A shadow crept along the ground her flowing around the pine trees of shadowclan with no more than a whisper of pine needles to alert to her presence. Her violet eyes flashed as a thrush landed near by. She'd been tracking it through the trees so quietly waiting for it to land. she crouched as it's feet hit the bark. of the nearest tree root. She melted into the ground and moved forward within striking distance. Unlike the Thunderclan forest Shadowclan never lost their cover from the sun in leaf bare. Their pines never lost their green. Just another reason we're superior. Even the trees enjoy us more. Preparing to pounce she bunched her muscled beneath her but something startled the bird and up it flew. NO! She pressed against the ground forcing her body to rise quickly in a magnificent leap claws outstretched. THey passed away form the prey by less than a whisker. VIoletwhisper landed with a thump and crack as a dry dead branch on the ground broke beneath her weight. "Mouse dung" She spat. As she listened to the alarm call from the thrush carry around her a scent hit her nose so strong it almost made her gag.
She turned anger burning in her eyes and looked through the trees. The scent of fish tainted the forest, probably scaring away all the near by prey. Violetwhisper smirked as she took in the slight fear scent of the she cat. Big bad Shadowclan gonna eat you! Rawr She smirked and slid through the shadows her black pelt making her all but invisible Her eyes swept the cat over, she'd seen her at gatherings once or twice. What was her name? She racked her brain, because knowing it would mean all the more fun. She was sure it was somethign feminine, with song at the end. Cloudsong...unglysong...FIshsong... She closed her eyes and thoguht hard. focusing on her memories of Gatherings. Jadesong! That was it. She smiled and moved into position. She had placed herself between the she-cat and her border. Hiding in the shadows she was almost completely hidden, save her violet eyes, if you could see them. She closed her eyes and spoke, her voice eerie in the silence of the forest, carrying across the short distance clearly though she spoke little louder than a whisper. "Jadesong...Jadesong, Why have you abandoned us?" She let her last word fade into a whine. before she crept along in the shadows around to the other side of the she cat. "Jadesong, Why did you not stay with the River!" This was the most fun she had had in moons, and the fun of it almost filled her with laughter. almost. Show me what ya mean Let’s get it started (Lyrics Credit: "E for Extinction" Thousand Foot Krutch)

J A D E S O N G , Her instinct was to duck down, so she did so, crouching in the relatively boggy ground, feeling the mud ooze up and around her paws. A grimace passed her face, despite her fear; how could this clan live like this?! Surely, no cat could enjoy hunting in such moist conditions. Her whiskers quivered as she crouched, every little sound appearing to her, as that of an enemy warrior, stalking her, about to pounce, claws at the ready. The violent image caused her to paw at her face, desperately wanting to remove the fear. A thrush sang, somewhere in the distance, and though Jadesong had little experience with forest prey, that one certainly was making a loud racket. She was not sure if it was an omen, but suddenly something didn't seem quite right. A chill passed over her pelt, though there was no wind. She screwed her eyes shut, so unprepared for this situation; she had walked into something that was incredibly unfamiliar to her. If it came to a fight, could she handle it? Or would her life's blood be distributed upon rival clan lands?
A scent drifted in from a little way away from the thick pine trees. Why was there no form to accompany it? She could not answer herself, but she knew she was in grave danger. She ducked down even further, the fur on her belly now sticky and damp with both mud and water. Jadesong did not quite know what else to do, to run would be too obvious, plus she was not entirely sure of where the borders lay. How would she know when to stop? She had never been the most agile runner, much to her dismay. A shadow seemed to creep, though Jadesong thought it more likely to be that of the pine trees, waving in the breeze. Though something, again, did not seem quite right. A voice issued; little more than a whisper. It seemed to fade and echo from all around her, filling her pelt with dread.
The tawny warrior was sure it was her ancestors; those noble cats that had since gone to StarClan. 'I - I didn't leave, I swear,' her voice was filled with grief and panic. 'It was a mistake; I lost track of--' It didn't quite add up. Why would StarClan be so furious with her? If it was StarClan calling. She presumed so; the lack of a bodily form would suggest as much. Now it was coming from the other side, and it was in that moment she experience a total lack of control. All logic that had been inside of her mind had vanished, for she had seen nothing; therefore believed it to be no trick. 'Please, StarClan, I'm sorry!' she wailed, her tail thrashing from behind her, forgetting all need for silence and stillness. She stood up now, revealing her presence. She wanted to continue speaking, but seemed to lack the words that would make amends to this righteous cat. The she - cat waited, wet dirt oozing gently from the tip of her tail; what would happen to her now?

Violetwhisper Let me see whatcha got Can ya take it up a knotch? Her ears pricked waiting for the response of the she-cat before her. She dug her claws into the ground as the she-cats cries erupted to the skies. She needed to wait out the silence, play it out as if Starclan were considering her offer. She had a plan, and this evil little she-cat couldn't pass up the opportuinity to mess with a warrior from another clan. Would it be better if it was an apprentice. Probably but warriors could be just as scared, if played correctly. She held her breath as the silence stretched on, waiting feeling ehr heart beat in her chest and the excitement churning in her belly. She felt like she'd swallowed a whole school of tadpoles and they were swimming around inside her. She flicked her ears and watched trying to quell her pounding heart. This was far more enjoyable than any warrior duty, and what other place would have the shadowed cover in which she could obtain such fear from others. this was her favorite pasttime. Nothing could change that. She smirked and thought again of the words the she-cat had said. Please, StarClan, I'm sorry! A purr of laughter rumbled in her throat, but she forced it down. Starclan cares not for the trifles of single warriors out of their territory She thought to herself. Sure her faith wasn't that strong. She wasn't a medicine cat but no one would doubt her loyalty. This she-cat surely wouldn't not after today's encounter with Violetwhisper.
The time had come. She slowly rose to her paws and slipped from the shadows so elegantly and practiced it was sure to seem that she was forming from the very depths of them. She smirked her violet eyes playing irridescently gainst the black backdrop of her fur. Her white whiskers stuck out like little frozen pieces of grass giving her an even deadlier look. This was a dangerous game she was playing, but it was oh so fun. "Starclan has rejected you Jadesong." She paused her eyes narrowing in contempt as she tried to keep the malice in her eyes and keep amusement from showing in their purple depths. "I am a shadow of a cat who was. I've come to bring you to the Dark Forest. Come. Tigerstar is waiting." She flicked her tail again and looked into the she-cat's eyes. The fear she had seen there earlier as she had called to her ancestors sent her over the edge. Her mouth twitched and edged toward a smile, Her eyes flashed with laughter and a pur erupted form her throat. "You should see you're face." She said. She couldn't help it, it was to perfect. She couldn't have resisted any more than had she been hunting a frog in the dead of leaf-bare, and Jadesong was the frog. Don’t think you got it Can’t handle the pressure? J A D E S O N G , Silence seemed more painful than the harsh cries that had issued from that of StarClan. It was a deadly way; so much rode upon their answer. She had no idea how they would react to her pleas, and that only succeeded in intensifying the feeling of dread inside of her. Her fur was standing on edge, but even the thick fur could not protect her from her fate, or relieve the emotions. ’StarClan?’ The word slipped out of her almost unconsciously. It seemed it had all become too much for this warrior. She sat down, now, tail quivering in the marshy waters behind her, eyes gleaming with intense fear. She was a gentle cat; not used to being rejected or accused of being wrong. Before this, Jadesong would have always said she was proud to say she had lived a virtually mistake – free life. Was that a purr that came from deep within the grove of pine trees? Stifled, it seemed it was; her heart seemed to falter as she listened for proof that the noise had really occurred. What was this? Were StarClan really enjoying her pain this much? It just didn’t seem right. Again, that feeling of uncertainty had come back to haunt her. It seemed to give her strength; clear her mind.
Her eyes begun to dart around the clearing again; no longer was she huddled into a ball. She thought about standing up, the muscles in her hindquarters aching to do so. She refrained; scared that all was not as it seemed, even still. There it was! That voice, again. So, that was it. She was going to the Dark Forest. For some reason, all she felt was regret; it was if now her fate was sealed, her fear had vanished. Flitted away like the shadows of the cats that dwelled in the moonlit woods of that deathly place. A true shadow appeared and the warrior’s jaw dropped, half – open, now. The violet eyes seemed to flicker and dance with malice, and she was sure a dead cat had really come before her. She took an unconscious step back, her paws sinking further into mud behind her. At the word Tigerstar, her fear returned, with a vengeance. Tigerstar was merely a name, to her, for the majority of the time. A story, too, long remembered from moons and moons ago. Despite the fact that it was a tale used to frighten kits, the tawny warrior was aware that those events had happened. What would Tigerstar do to a warrior who was RiverClan, who believed in StarClan and had mocked his own name in their thoughts?
She didn’t wait to find out, she turned on her paws and began to scramble away, making little progress. She was not used to running on such marshy ground. A purr erupted from behind her, and she paused, her front paw half – lifted off the ground. The words erupted around her, and she became aware that she had been tricked! Tricked! The word rushed over her bringing both belief and anger. ’You TRICKED me?’ She screeched as she had never done before. ’How-- Why--?’ No question would suffice; she knew why and she knew how. She simply couldn’t believe a cat could sink that low. ’ShadowClan cats certainly are fox - hearted. .’ The words slipped out before she could stop them, a faint echo ringing, it seemed. She knew there was no hope that the warrior hadn’t heard her. That she - cat would want revenge; the level of her trick had shown her that. She did the only think she could; babbled. ’I mean, that was certainly believable. . I mean, you certainly tricked me, I never would have guessed that you were a living cat, and you really tricked me!’ What a muddled sentence, she reflected a grim expression floating over her features. She readied herself to run, rather than fight; cowardly it may be, but she was pretty sure she could not stand against this ShadowClan cat. Meanwhile, her eyes never left her face.

Violetwhisper When we move We camouflage ourselves Her claws sunk into the ground with satisfaction. She felt the squish of the marsh ground and smiled as the scene played out before her. She had succeeded. She'd completed her task. She looked at the she-cat as she turned and spoke almost dumbstruck at the thought of being tricked. At her next words her hackles rose on her shoulders. Surprisingly not because she was insulted, or because she felt her clan was being insulted. Merely because it seemed the she-cat before her couldn't stand behind her own opinion. Trying to sugarcoat what she had stated irritated Violetwhisper to no end. She was a generally honest cat, and if she had something to say about you, she would say it. She expected the same from others. She wasn't one to sugar coat ehr thoughts, nor was she going to defend them. She hated cats who did that. Cats who couldn't stand behind their own opinions. It was weak and cowardice. she flicked her tail, feeling the cold, wet, mud that had seeped into it from the marsh flick toward the trees near her. Her paws were matted with the mud, this was no way to look before she defended her beliefs. Er...her clan. She sat down, defiantly wrapping her tail around her paws. She lifted a paw calmly and began to clean the mud from her claws. She probably looked ridiculous, sitting in the same stuff she cleaned now from her paws.
She switched paws and glanced at the she-cat. Still staring, how unnerving. She thought and rolled her eyes. I suppose I should say something. She finished cleaning her front paws and picked up a hind paw flicking her ears calmly. This had turned into a battle of the wits. "Of course we're Fox hearts. how else do you expect us to live beside cowards like Riverclan." She spat the clan name like it was crowfood coming from her mouth. She didn't mean to show such hostility, but she felt warrented. She had just formed a new and solid oppinion of Riverclan. And it was all thanks to Jadesong. She would never live it down. She flicked her gaze again, switching to her final paw, She finished in silence, and placed if comfortably clean on the ground. She flicked her gaze over the she cat again taking in her stance. She seemed to be preparing to run. "Well if you're going to run I suggest you get a move on. The sooner you get off my territory the sooner I can get back to camp, and tell Crimsonstar of cowardly Riverclan." She knew she had the ' home field advantage' if you will. She was used to the mud, the muck and the darkness the pines offered. She wasn't un acusstomed to chasing a squirrel over this land, and she wasn't afraid to chase this Warrior for lack of a better title off of her land in much the same manner. We stand in the shadows waiting We live for this and nothing more

J A D E S O N G , She could feel the irritation and anger rising off the cat before her in waves. She now eyed her apprehensively, hackles raised like her opponent's. What should she do? She had no hope in a fight, especially on unfamiliar territory. She felt it necessary to avoid one at all costs. A battle of wits it must be, though she only felt a little more confident here. Only her pride could be wounded, whereas if it came to a physical battle. . well, who knew how far the ShadowClanner would go in order to defend her and clan. Jadesong straightened her stance; crouching or cowering would do no good here, that much was clear. It was mildly surprising when the warrior before her sat down and began to clean her paws, licking the mud in an almost defiant manner. What was the point of that? the she - cat found herself wondering. Oh, she does look foolish.
She was careful not to let a smirk appear over her face, as unusual as that feeling may be. Jadesong was still wary of the situation, and thus far, her oponent had made no response. Unnerving? Just a little. The eye rolling before she spoke indicated just how much contempt she had for her. The RiverClan warrior was not sure exactly what had caused this, however, she felt a sudden determination to change her opinion of her. Her strong voice startled her a little, though perhaps not quite as much as before; she was becoming a little adjusted to her harsh manner. The insult to her clan caused her pain, clouding her eyes for just a heartbeat. However, the moment soon passed and the ShadowClanner was addressing her once more. She focused on, determined to 'play along' somehow. It seemed her next words allowed her with the perfect opportunity.
Something sparked inside of the tawny warrior; like a flame errupting into a powerful fire. 'You know what, Shadowclanner, I don't think I will. Not just yet.' The words, to her, sounded harshly emitted. She felt somewhat proud of her vengeful response. She did not know what caused her to say those words, but one thing seemed clear; this cat, whatever her name, brought out a different side to her. 'I don't even know the name of my deceiver, and after all, I have my own findings to report and I'm sure my leader will be wanting a little information.'
The whole notion was ridiculous. As if she would tell her leader she had crossed clan territories. She was sure Crimsonstar would be less than impressed. The warrior came to realize she was bluffing, something she had never done in her life! Again, that same surge of pleasure came over her. Being spiteful, as she considered it, was rather fun. Of course, she couldn't last long acting in this manner; it was not really in her nature, therefore if it turned into a real battle of wits and deception, she would have a hard time holding her ground. Her gaze flicked back to the warrior, feeling apprehension along with-- was that exhiliartion? - mixed in her veins. She would wait; waiting was what she did best.

Violetwhisper I can feel the storm, the winds have changed Ooh, 'cause we're worlds apart but just the same Calmly she flicked her tail toward Jadesong, still covered in mud, she hoped it hit the she-cat. Her eyes flashed with challenge as the she-cat remained. A hint of respect fluttered in her heart. perhaps there's more to this she-cat than meets the eye...we'll just have to see. She thought and turned her gaze to the forest around her her eyes well adjusted to their dark depths and she could clearly see the outlines of the trees, and reeds where they grew. She saw the sunlight, how little there was reflected off the puddles formed on the ground from the recent leaf-fall rains. She turned her eerie purple gaze back to the Riverclan she-cat. She wasn't one to be intimidated by threats of clan leaders. She hadn't even done anything wrong. She snorted blinking back laughter and spoke, her voice still soft, yet confident "And tell her what? that you forgot where your borders lay? That you were as frightened as a kit merely hearing Tigerstars name?" She flicked her ears and shook her head.
She let her paws spread wide as she rose and took a slow, elegant step forward. This kept her from sinking into the mud and she didn't have to get her claws muddy again. "My name isn't one that's easily forgotten, it's not one that I speak lightly, and I don't give it to just anyone who asks." She raised her head and looked down her nose at the Riverclan cat before her. She felt so superior, so strong, so commanding. She relished the feeling a chill sweeping over her at the thought of having others under her power. "Of course my compatriots may like to be released from the shadows where they're hiding." She said flicking her tial around them. Of course there were no others there, but what's the harm in a little white lie. She couldn't control wether or not the seemingly gullible she-cat believed her, nor which kinds of compatriots she thought she was talking about. Perhaps the Riverclanner felt she had been a little too convincing to have never been to the dark forest. perhaps she could pass it off that she could command the shadows of evil cat's past. Oh this will be fun indeed. she thought narrowing her eyes slightly but never letting them leave Jadesongs. But we won't leave the way that we came I know there's so much more ahead (Lyrics Credit to "E for Extinction" by Thousand foot Krutch)

J A D E S O N G , The she - cat's blunt response caused a ripple of helplessness through her body. How easy it was to cut her down! Already, Jadesong had begun to feel her old characteristics resurfacing. She just wanted to go back to the halfbridge and her clan and the gentle sounds of the river lapping against the reeds and grass. She was such a simple - minded creature and it seemed this meeting was taking a toll on her. She needed a smart retort, though, one that would really make that cat 'sit up and listen' to her, respect, her, even. A sarcastic comment, threaded with malice was what she needed to produce. Right now!
That was it; she just needed to open her mouth and the well - framed words would come flowing out. Too late, the ShadowClanner was moving forward and fear held her in it's clutches yet again. Please don't kill me, please don't kill me,' was the frantic whisperings of her mind. She barely listened to her confident, elegant statement about her name, though she came down to earth enough to realize she had been vaguely insulted. Oh big deal, she would snort contemptuously, her ears flattening and her eyes rolling-- Of course she wouldn't. She simply wasn't the type. Instead she would stand and accept the words. Jadesong tried to match the warrior's gaze and pose, though no - where near as successfully or easily. The mud that had splattered upon her face, tingeing the cream fur a light fawn, now seemed to weigh down against her skin, as her initial fear returned. Shadows of evil cats? The warrior seemed to be just as convincing, though her eyes gleamed in a way that showed she was merely amused, rather than being realistic. Her fur began to rise, though she remembered the tricksy way in which this cat liked to behave. She needed to calm herself; to think in a more logical manner. Surely she was used to behaving this way inclined? After all, she was not exactly the type to joke around. 'Shadows of evil?' Her voice sounded somewhat triumphant as she raised her chin to stare up at the ShadowClanner.
'Oh, please. After your last trick, don't expect me to believe a word you say!' Her eyes, however, told the truth; showed the uncertainty she still felt. She just hoped that the she - cat facing her, eyes narrowed with superiority, could not see it. Her paws moved backward; just a pace. 'Surely, you can think of something better than that?' What had gotten into her? First her confident tone and now she was egging her on? This could lead to a fight! The RiverClanner knew she had to prepare herself to run; and fast. The sooner she left this cat's territory the better, though something seemed to hold her paws in place. . Beat that, you sneaking, fox - hearted-- She contented herself with a glare; such thoughts would get her no - where.
OOC: Eh, sorry, bad continuation. I was seriously getting stuck as to what she could say to her. x3

Violetwhisper And I know there’s so much more ahead I can barely believe that I’m here Her eyes narrowed with irritation as the she-cat seemed to almost accept her second trick with little challenge. This is too easy She thought angrily. Her claws dug into the ground and she lashed her tail. She blinked, slightly surprised as Jadesong seemed to comprehend that she was again being tricked. eh smiled lightly Now then there's a good little Riverclanner...use your mind come on now A purr of amusement almost reached from her throat and she flicked her ears forward. Now this could be a challenge, and a good one. She smirked devilishly, her violet eyes flashing with determination and excitement. "Well I'm glad to see you've learned something from our time together." She meowed her voice soft, but cold. She had no intention of ending this any time soon. This was yet another chance for her to prove her superiority yet again and get honor for herself - er - her clan. She flicked her tail and wrapped it around her paws, giving her an elegant but dangerous look. The sun was high in the sky but you could barely tell in the pines. They were so thick, and their branches always so full that they blocked out most of the strongest rays of the sun. This suited Viletwhisper perfectly. She blossomed in the dark, if you will. Not only did she look like a shadow but she moved like one, clinging to the darkness allowing it to cover her, protect her.
What most people didn't know was that this she-cat wasn't as ruthless and merciless as she pretended to be. She had a soft side, not that any of these cats were worthy enough to see it. She smirked thinking this way. She knew most others would describer her as prickly, stubborn, and downright shifty, even her apprentice would say such things, especially her apprentice. It was this softer side of her which struck a cord in her now, for the she-cat before her. Haven't you scared her enough for one day Violet? She flicked her ears back against her skull and dug her claws into the ground forcing this gentle beast inside of her down, and hiding it back in it's cage. She quickly resumed her elegant posture her ears forward, her claws out of the ground. She moved in one fluid motion, her eyes betraying nothing, of her plan. She stood and took two slow steps forward placing one paw delicately in front of the other. She wanted nothing more than to claw this she cats eyes out. Take out on her the anger at her own gentle side. For what Jadesong didn't realize was that this had become more than just a border skirmish. Violetwhisper was fighting herself. She saw so much of herself in Jadesong that it scared her. She wanted to prove to herself, and to others, though they may not now it, that she was in control of everything in her life.
She spoke coldly, her eyes narrowing at Jadesong, and her tail tip twitching in anticipation of a fight. "Now see little Jadesong, I have two options, I can either allow you to run back to your clan, or I can claw your ears." She paused flicking her claws forward a bout a mouselength from Jadesong's nose pinning her ears back and hissing for effect, hopping to scare her a little. "But that decision is up to you, Little Riverclanner. Do you think you've learned your lesson?" She spoke as if chiding a kit, hoping this would raise some kind of negative response. Perhaps this she-cat had some kind of fight in her. For in truth, she was itching for a fight now. She wanted to catch her claws in someones fur, and drag them to the ground. Show her superiority, and prove her worth -er- her clan's worth. And I won’t surrender quietly Step up and watch me go (Lyrics Credit to "E for Extiction" by Thousand Foot Krutch)
