Snowstar. She had to constantly remind herself that her name was now ‘Snowstar.’ Her whiskers twitched with excitement as the camp came back into view. Every bone in her body felt weary, and even the fur on her back seemed tired, but her excitement and the electrical charge she felt from receiving her nine lives made her feel like she could stay awake for a hundred nights and never tire. Her long, sleek tail waved above her as she bounded across the moors in large, ground-eating strides. Her slender figure stretched and contracted, a white shadow slipping across the grasses and rocky hills. The wind whipped through her fur, threatening to sweep her off her feet, but she felt too powerful to be blown about by the wind. And she paused on a small outcropping that overlooked the camp, gazing down at the cats that milled about within. Would they see her any differently? She certainly felt different, but she doubted she looked different. Would they see her as their leader, know her instantly when she came back? Only a few cats knew she had gone to the Moonpool, Sparrowpaw included, and Snowstar wondered how she’d be received as the new leader of WindClan. Her tail lashed behind her with anticipation, and she leapt form the small outcropping to land lightly on the ground below. Her long strides carried her easily into camp, and she trotted along the nests and dens, glancing into them every once in a while to see if she could catch a glimpse of a familiar pelt or cat. She wove her way through the camp, until she reached Tallrock. The large stone was worn from time, but it still stood imposing and looming as ever, watching over the camp since the time of Tallstar and Onestar. Closing her eyes briefly, Snowstar sighed, and then bunched her muscles beneath her. With a soaring leap, she landed on the edge of the stone, and turned towards the camp. She could see eyes peeking out of dens curiously, and twitched her whiskers in faint amusement. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath Tallrock.”OOC: ‘Kay, guys, since I don’t know if anyone needs mentors or what they need/want or if anyone needs to be made into apprentices or warriors, please post that with your post. Russetclaw
This ain't no stumbling block It's just a stepping stone His eyes shone with pride as he trotted into the clearing the rabbit dragging between his legs and it's fur tickling his nose. His shoulder ached from his run after the rabbit after a long night defending his territory. He knew he needed to tell Snowstar of the fight, but had decided that it could wait until after he'd brought back some fresh kill for the clan. He trotted confidently to the fresh-kill pile and deposited his catch. He looked around and noticed that Snowstar must have called a meeting. He shrugged rolling his shoulders back and walking over to the side of the clearing. He lashed his tail and let it fall over his paws elegantly his dark orange pelt was ruffled from his jaunt in the moorland. He bent down and licked his chest trying to force the fur to lie flat. As he worked on grooming his pelt he thought back over the last few moons. So many changes had come to Windclan. The loss of a leader, Snowstar gainning her nine lives, kits born. He smiled his clan was growing, and he was happy to serve them. He flicked his ears and listened around the camp, waiting for others to emerge.
As he finished his grooming, leaving his pelt shining and smooth. He looked up at Tallrock and imagined himself standing up there seasons from now. It was no secret that his ambitions pushed him toward leadership. That his ambitions drove him on toward becoming deputy and one day leading the clan. He closed his eyes and let his ambitions swarm through his mind over powering him for a moment. All his desires to lead, and protect his clan. To make decisions, to have power and respect. Then he allowed them to seep back into his soul, hiding the most dangerous ambitions from the surface of his being. Now, no matter the out come of today, he would be happy. He would be content in his lot, and his ability to serve his clan. Every so often he had to give his ambitions rise, allow them their moment in the spot light, so that they would not consume him the rest of his time. He smiled and looked toward the nursery knowing that Littlekit would be emerging soon, this was going to be his day Russetclaw was sure of it. That kit was 6 moons at least, and he would need a good mentor. Snowstar will choose well. Russetclaw smiled and flicked his ears again looking back up at Snowstar nodding a greeting to her. He turned his head glancing around the clearing looking for Larkpaw. He wanted to take her hunting this afternoon and work on her stalking. He'd find her after the meeting.
