kitten || Apprentice
personality:
Quailpaw isn't one without his fears, but he isn't one without his strengths, either. Through this first length of his profile, let us speak about the young apprentice's strengths - disadvantages included.

Like many cats, Quailpaw is a very inquisitive feline, though he may be a tad bit more curious than most. Paired up with his stealthy paws, it is certainly something worth noted with regards to a good gatherer of information. While at an immature age, though, Quailpaw hasn't a single clue as of when to stop his constant nagging - if it can be considered nagging at all. He has yet to realise that there's something called, "stepping over the line", though in future, that will be something that he should remember - for his sake. Of course, there is a reason for Quailpaw's constantly inquiring demeanour. Actually no, strike that; there are two reasons for this.
The first reason trails back to Quailpaw's mother's constant stories about all sorts of fictional mysteries. It was always the same cat as the main character; a leader of ShadowClan who greatly cared about his clanmates, but scolded whenever necessary. At the end of each of the stories, he always discovered the answer in the end. This leader became like a role model for Quailpaw, so much so, that at the end of each of the stories, the tom always asked all sorts of questions about the feline detective. Eventually, he almost seemed like an imaginary friend of sorts to the young cat.
The second reason is related to Quailpaw's cautious nature around unfamiliar creatures. His mother had always said to stay away from strangers, but the subconscious mind inside of the then-kitten had took it as a sign to be wary around everyone, even his mother. Of course, Quailpaw was a lot more relaxed around his parent, but that didn't mean he wasn't prepared for a betrayal - should it ever happen.

No matter how cautious he may be, Quailpaw will still obey commands given to him by his superiors. Although he tries his best to perceive whether the intentions are good or bad, if he goes with the 'unsure' choice, he goes with the flow and watches what happens. After all, Quailpaw's father had always told him to learn from his mistakes, no matter how small they may be. He always remembered those words, no matter how disappointed in himself he was because those words always let his face smile again.
--x--
No matter how much he may know, Quailpaw is still only a little kid. And with a little kid's body comes a little kid's brain. Throughout his life, the young tomcat hasn't seen what battles or arguments look like and any fights he has seen were over petty little things; things that don't matter where survival is involved. While that naivete exists, Quailpaw will only see the world through beautiful, pure eyes - something that doesn't exist in the eyes of warriors. Quailpaw is the type of feline that anyone can discuss their worries with and not worry a bit about being mocked, whether the situation is really understood or not. You should make the most of it while it lasts.

Now, for the remainder of this section, let us speak about Quailpaw's other side; the terrible traits.
--x--
Quailpaw has some amazing speed, despite his size, but he never can use it efficiently. Whenever the tomcat attempts to skid to a stop or turn a corner...he can't. It often annoys the apprentice; whenever running, he always has to make notes to himself about the speed of his legs to make sure his running isn't going at a pace that'll cause him to have a bruise at the end of the day. At the end of the day, if Quailpaw's trained in the right way, he'll be brilliant at chasing.
--x--
Although Quailpaw can be pretty sociable when he wants to be, he isn't really capable of expressing the negative emotions inside of him properly. His father used to shout at him all the time and the feelings he felt wasn't something he wanted to experience again. With that in mind, Quailpaw would never feel good shouting or getting angry at anyone, regardless of what they've done. He had once heard an elder talking to another apprentice. Her words? "You should treat others the way you wish to be treated yourself." With all those bottled-up emotions, though, Quailpaw won't be a pretty sight when he lashes out.

When there's a naive cat, there's always an oblivious one. Despite wanting to become like the 'detective' in those stories, a fair few obvious facts pass straight through Quailpaw until hours later after thinking everything carefully through. This sometimes even applies to orders, believe it or not. Although no one - not even Quailpaw - knows the reason for this, it is most certainly something that is hoped to be prevented, one of these days.
appearance:
Quailpaw isn't much bigger than your average apprentice - if not a little smaller. There's nothing really unusual about the silver tabby, not even the tiny paws. His eyes are of a dark yellow-green and very beautiful to look at. The ears situated on the top of his furry head are like a normal feline's and the chest fluff is as furry as can be.
In brief, Quailpaw is just your normal, average apprentice.
history:

""Tarulo! Pass over the argentu--that metal wheel!" came a shout. Clang! "Hey, watch how you move that thing! I've placed an electrode shaped like a comb inside with a sphere on the tip which has a piece of silk wrapped around it. In a way, I'm trying to mimic a Van de Graaff generator. Once placed into this here skateboard, the negative charge from the generator should move the skateboard away from the ground: as these lands have a negative charge, meaning that this skateboard should float! Brilliant, huh?" Noticing the look of confusion on his guardian's face, he shook his head. "What that means to you is, if you accidentally start turning the sphere, you're gonna get one hell of an electric shock!" This thought clearly didn't appeal to the elder, so, with much caution, the argentum sphere made its way to the young apprentice's hands.
The engineer behind this metal experiment goes by the name of Eridari Ariko Andantino. The Andantino family is known far and wide for their expert engineers and brilliant robotic ideas. On the floating islands, robots and electronics are the most largest want for anyone wanting to live a normal life. It would surprise them if they realised that whole countries never used gadgets like their's while these lands were still Earth. Getting asked for so many commissions has made the whole family rich; which is simply used for more of their experiments. But, nothing with such a good pay goes without its downsides. Another thing that's known around the islands is that, other than engineering, every Andantinoir - as the people are now called - is trained in both sword-fighting and the martial arts at a young age. This renown gives the whole family a bad reputation, since so many before have abused this knowledge. Despite this, groups of people place many different orders every day. No one can deny the prodigal skill of these masters.
Eridari is far too enthusiastic with his electronics and often works past his curfew. No matter how many times the young prodigy is lectured, he continues to be late again, and again, and again. Of course, the young master realises the importance of his battling ability and makes sure to arrive to his two extra classes on time each day his practice is on. The jackal was just happy to have time to himself in his workshop at the end of each day.
"Done!" came the proud exclaim of the canine.
Four silver wheels, each with its own generator, were fitted neatly onto a slightly arched board. The colour could come later; after the testing. It was only a prototype, after all. Standing upright, Eridari could do little before he found himself down on the ground again. "I'm fine!" Despite being a brilliant engineer, the amount of times the Andantinoir found himself on the ground wasn't possible to count. Surprisingly, regardless of the surrounding area, the dog just stood up, all happy and smiley. This applied here, too and before Tarulo could object, Eridari first brought his scarlet pilot goggles down and then grabbed his beige cloak and tied it on. Flicking up the hood, the dog added a Hummingbird mask to the costume and picked up his new contraption. This strange outfit was, in fact, a safety precaution. Most people recognised the common visitor and many attempted to assault him, but with that costume, it could be any Andantinoir; and no one risked it. Quite often, though, Eridari made sure to keep his lips sealed. Although looks weren't taken into account, voices were.
As soon as the jackal got out into the pure, fresh air, he was on his invention in a flash. Like a normal skateboard, the left foot was planted down and then pushed off. Having trained for so long, it only took a couple of pushes to get it going fast enough. At first, nothing seemed to be happening, but, as the mind of Eridari waited expectantly, electricity began sparking and the skateboard lifted off. "Yes!" The cry of triumph turned into joy-filled laughter as he skated flying into town. It didn't lift all that high, but it was high enough that it could be considered off the ground. Suddenly, a feline came dashing in front, seeming rather oblivious to the flying jackal. Curious, Eridari's left foot came flying down onto the back, which brought the skateboard to the ground. After that, it simply took a jump, and a grab with the hands to stop.
The canine stopped in time to notice the feline being grabbed by the waist, dangling there helplessly as a loaf of bread thudded on to the dirty ground below. 'Doubt whoever that bread belongs to'll really want it again.'
"Lemme go, you giant, lemme go!"
Eridari frowned at this scene and felt inclined to help; so he did. Long ago, a war broke out between the felines and the canines and those of his breed won easily. Things had calmed down since then and the two species began merging together; but racism still remained. The engineer felt disgusted by this behaviour: why couldn't they all just get along? The only difference was the way they looked and where they lived; doesn't that apply to everyone? "Hey, you there! Unhand him, immediately!"
The two dog-people quickly turned their heads up at this voice and - after shouting in desperation, "It's an Andantinoir: run!" they dumped the feline on the ground and ran for their lives. The elder was clearly frustrated at the fact he had lost a loaf, but regardless, he hobbled away. Eridari sighed. Often, these reactions sent a package of sadness within him. To think that someone could be feared for their skills...it was just unthinkable. Beginning to approach the alleyway, the engineer began wondering whether this cat-person knew of him or not: even though the Andantino family were of canine descent, felines still knew of this large organisation.
But, before Eridari began his research into this cat-person, he had something else to attend to; that loaf of bread. "I'll take that, thank you," he spoke as he reached down with a gloved hand. Since the silk had run low, four of the finger sections had been cut off for the wheels, leaving only the thumb. Due to the length of his digits, the finger coverings were a good-enough substitute. Walking further into the alley, the two Coyote twins could be seen hiding near a dumpster. Often had he seen them around; stealing food to eat and valuables to sell; but Eridari could never do anything and it pained him inside. The engineer wasn't sure if the feline would stay, but it was his choice whether he stayed or left, not Eridari's. Splitting the loaf in half, he knelt down, so as to seem less threatening and then placed the pieces in front of them. "Enjoy." Giving a smile behind the bird mask, the jackal stood and walked back. Not enough time had really been given for the feline to make his escape, so the prodigy wasn't surprised to see him still there.
Eridari wanted to help this feline live a life; it didn't look like he was really having much luck at the moment and he doubted the situation would change much with the two species acting the way they were. So - although the cat might not accept it - the dog took out the same hand that had been touching the loaf of bread and stretched it out to him; palm out wide, cream-coloured fingers slightly bent. Eridari was pretty strange compared to other of his species. He was overly...fluffy. The fur on the four exposed fingers were almost like an Afghan Hound's tail! "Need any help?" he spoke with the usual calmness he had while forgetting about his experiments."
