gender: Female
age: 15 moons
clan: Riverclan

--personality:
sarcastic;
Leafshadow is first and foremost a sarcastic cat, and secondly a serious one. She's been known to be an oppourtinist with her jokes, though, and occasionally sets up a situation just so that she can make a pun out of it. She can be a bit cheeky at times, spitting out whatever comes off of her tongue. Most of the time, it's not appropriate to the situation, which causes a slight dislike towards her occasionally. Thankfully, she rarely means exactly what she says. If you took her seriously all of the time, there would be no end to your troubles.
passionate;
This she-cat has a strong sense of purpose, and is forever driven by the code she swore to follow. She never goes halfway on things--always gives 100 percent. If there's something that needs to be done, you can bet that Leafshadow will give her full attention to the task at hand. When she's really focused, there's nothing in the world that can distract her. In fact, she can come off as rude at times, especially when she's super into it and doesn't wish to be bothered. Any social interactions are seen as a hinderance, and she usually drives them away. After awhile, these cats learn to leave the she-cat in peace on all patrols.
approachable;
The rest of the time, though, Leafshadow is quite approachable. While she doesn't always go out of her way to talk to others, she has this aura around her that draws cats in. She friendly enough and funny enough that most wish to be around her, whether or not she returns the feelings. Gatherings are especially interesting for her, since it feels like there's always someone that needs to talk to her, generally from another clan. . While the she-cat does enjoy it, somewhat, there comes a time when she just needs her space, and needs to be left alone. At times, she's skipped gatherings, just to get out of socializing with so many others. It's definitely not her forte.
insecure;
Beneath the surface, though, an entire web of insecurities coats the she-cat's mind. Months of feeling weak and out of place have slowly eroded at her mind, making the she-cat believe that she's somehow less than the others. While it briefly went away when she became a warrior, it's now back--and stronger than ever. Finding out she was a decoy has questioned all of her beliefs, and she now finds her friendships--enemies--all relationships to her in question. SO don't be surprised if the she-cat seems to be analyzing ever move you make--that's probably because she is.
This feeling in itself is the root of all of her other personality traits--she's overly sarcastic when she wants to drive others away, and and opens herself up when she wants to draw people in. She puts effort into everything she does in an effort to silence the feelings of inferiority. So far, though, none of it is working...

--appearance:
Her fur's covered in calico splotches, with sections of a golden tan here, and a darker brown there. Her build is fairly average, though, with a slender body and powerful front legs.She moves around with an easy grace to her, as if she's moves with the water or the wind. Her fur's in between longhair and shorthair, though it has just enough thickness to keep her warm throughout leafbare. Her whiskers are long, white, and very expressive. One only needs to glance at her face, or even her tail to gauge whatever mood she might be in.
--history:
They say that second chances aren't possible, that one chance alone is a gift. Leafshadow's been living her entire life just to prove this wrong. She IS the second chance.
backstory;;
The found her right on the edge of the seasons--as leaf-fall begun to fade into leafbare. A soft blanket of snow had begun to fall onto the lake, dusting everything in a whitish glow. A dusk border patrol just passed by the area, with one warrior doubling back to check on an old scent marker. There he found her, abandoned right on the other side of the Riverclan border. The tom almost didn't see her at first. The white patches on her fur gave the illusion of snow, and the brown of rocks or dirt.
As he drew nearer, though, it was clear that she was alive--but barely. In a moment of weakness, the warrior grabbed up the cold kit from a decaying pile of leaves, mentally naming her Leafkit. At the time, not a lot of kits were being born, placing the clan in a more welcoming position. If she survived through the next few days, the kit would be integrated into the clan as one of their own.
Sure enough, she pulled through and was given to the Queen who had last given birth. They never told little Leafkit of her true parentage, though, as even they themselves didn't know. Instead, they decided to try a little experiment--would the kit ever find out that she wasn't a fullblooded clan cat?
As she grew older, the size difference between Leafkit and her 'siblings' became more and more apparent. They were at least a moon or two older than her, but the kit still believed that they were her brothers and sisters. They, too, were young enough when she was introduced that they didn't know the difference either. So, as a kit Leafshadow was always the 'slow' one, or the 'weak one' since she was unable to ever catch up to her siblings....Insecurites were already festering inside of the kit as she wondered if she'd ever be just a normal kit instead of the weakling she thought of herself.
apprentice days;;
However, the rest of the clan knew otherwise.She'd been named an apprentice two moons later than her siblings...which just reinforced her inferiority beliefs. They watched as Leafpaw steadily grew more and more distant from her siblings, sneaking off to go try and improve her skills. She became exellent at sneaking away undetected--much to her mentor's despair. She had a way to her, a grace that allowed her to blend into the grasses of Riverclan, or disappear amid the rocks and the white spray of the water. Over time, she became a 'shadow' of sorts, always appearing when you didn't need her and vanishing when you did.
She proved to be an excellent warrior, though. Once she and her siblings evened out, (as far as growth goes) she began to pick up in her training. For once in her life, she was just as strong as others her age. She could beat them in a fight, or outfox them in strategy. While she was never a fantastic fighter, Leafpaw became much better that she'd ever expected. Soon enough, her warrior ceremony came (a few moons late, as usual) and Leafpaw found herself becoming the warrior Leafshadow.
warrior days;;
She was on a hunting patrol when it happened--on the far border very near to where she'd been found all of those moons ago. At this time, Leafshadow was still under the impression that she was just the runt of her mother's litter--just the smaller one of the bunch. But a rogue approached the she-cat--a rare enough occourence in itself. Curious as to what he'd say, Leafshadow dared two draw near. He came close in an instant, and whispered to her news she never wanted to hear.
"You are a decoy."
He said that she had just been an experiment, just a test to see if 'they' could insert a kit into the clan without suspicion. If they could have her be raised as one of their own, with no suspicion whatsoever among her clanmates. Glacier told her that she could never speak of this--that her parents must see her as one of their own by this time, and it would break their hearts if she found out otherswise.
The she-cat believed him at first. All of her suspicions had been confirmed. She was not one of RiverClan. She had never been one of Fawndapple's kits, and her brother and sister were not related to her at all.
But Leafshadow didn't want to belive. She knew how the clan treated those outside. She knew the names they called rogues and kittypets--even half-clan cats. She knew immediately that if they ever found out--everything about her would be questioned. Her trust. Her loyalty. Even her skills as a warrior.
Leafshadow didn't want this to happen. She didn't want to be outcast from her own kind. So she kept it a secret, and never let on that she knew about her true parentage.
Glacier kept meeting her, though--appearing on the borders every now and then. He'd hunt beside her, all the while filling her brain with what it meant to be a decoy. He's gradually poising her mind with these ideals--whispering lies to her about her clan. About how everyone knows she's not fully Riverclan. They they're treating her differently, less than everyone else.
The she-cat became hypersensitive to these sort of things, and over time became convinced it was the truth. She looked for evidence where there was none, with her dellusional mind putting together a puzzle without the right pieces. Her friends were still her friends, right? Did her parents even love her? And, worst of all..did they all truly hate her behind her back?
These questions still haunt her day-to-day life, sneaking up on her when she least expects it. Every kind word, every sideways look is put into question. She will analyze every move you make, tortured inside as to whether or not it's the truth. At first, she was inclined to believe so. But, as Glacier corrupts her mind more and more, the ideals she used to hold dear to her heart grow farther and farther away.

As evening sunk in, a cool burst of air trailed across the Riverclan camp. In the distance, the river softly bubbled along, but Leafshadow paid no mind. The sound to her had been filtered out, like so man other noises that bothered her.
She’d taken a walk that evening, at first under the guise of looking for a quick meal. The she-cat meandered by the river at first, squinting her eyes as she tried to glance in the reflective water. Leafshadow had given up almost immediately, though. The setting sun sent beams of light everywhere, making the riverside almost like a mirror in the dark.
Well, at least now she had an excuse to go into the other part of the territory—the section most outside of her clan didn’t even realize they had—the fields between the clan’s camp and the greenleaf twolegplace. Leafshadow only flicked her ears a couple times in annoyance before crossing the river. Her fur would surely be drenched, but the she-cat was used to it. In fact, as the seasons faded into greenleaf, she acutally enjoyed it.
Tonight was different, though. The warrior wasn’t in the mood for swimming, or for hunting in the fields. Instead, she was going to take a detour as soon as she was absolutely sure there was no one around. The she-cat strived to just sprint to the border from camp, but things weren’t that easy…She must take the back way, and stop to catch at least a mouse or two for camp. It wasn’t the most popular choice of fresh-kill…but a hungry belly wouldn’t complain. Food was food, after all.
As the sun finally disappeared, Leafshadow reached the border. She’d been coming here every few days..although recently it felt like every night. As usual, she could make out a light gray figure in the distance.
“Have they figured it out yet?” He called softly, his voice almost ghostly. Leafshadow quickly shook her head no. Thankfully, no one in her clan had realized why she always took these evening walks.
“Good.” The tom purred, the edges of his muzzle curling into a smile. “Then let us move on…”
