If you're a newbie (or a Noob) to Proboards, RPing, cat RPs, or just Warriors RP's and you need a bit of help with some things, then this is the place to go. Currently there are three guides, a sample bio, a newbie FAQ, and some important links that you should check out. Below is the FAQ, then will be the important links, then the sample bio. And a big thanks to Hawkclaw for writing everything!

FAQ FOR SITE NEWBIES.

First off, I ask the senior members of the site to help out as much as possible if there's any specific questions that need answered. This is just a general FAQ for people new to the site/roleplaying at a literate level.

Q: I'm new to the site and have no idea where to begin! Help me?

A: Everything you need to know is linked in the top right hand side of the Updates box. Click on 'Rules' before you think of joining. This is not to discourage you but to make sure you're fine with the plot and the rules that everyone abides by. Once you've read the rules and are happy then you can register from the same links box then make a character. The password for the creations board is in the rules and you can see the format from there.

Q: I've made my character but he's not been accepted. Is there something wrong?

A: Usually when a bio is declined it's because a)

• It doesn't comply with the rules/plot.
  
• The name is already in use amongst the Clan you're applying to.
  
• The format is not the one required for the bio.
  
• Your grammar is bad.
  
• The character you have made isn't original (i.e you make Firestar version 2.)
  
• You have not purchased something from the chop (i.e you are making a ginger she-cat, a loner, a half-clan cat, colar etc.)
  
• You're picture is copyrighted and we know it is.
  
• Molly-Sue's.
  
• Apply for a high position.
  

Q: Hey! I just made a character in RiverClan and I'd like to try out for Leader. How can I do this?

A: The simple answer is, you can't. First of all, the RiverClan leader is a main part of the story and if he goes inactive at any point the character will not be replaced but the person playing him will. Secondly, after the High Positions are decided if something happens to the former character/the person playing them goes inactive. If this is the case then the Leader of his Clan will decide who will take the position. Please don't get upset but there are a lot of roleplayers on here and the Leaders were chosen for their skills on the site as well as their skills with other players so they tend to pick the players that have been here the longest or have proven themselves.


Q: Can I play a kit?

Yes you can but if you're joining a completely new character make sure you have a mother and are old enough to think at least.

Q: I have twin characters. Can I play them on the same account?

A: No. Have you ever tried roleplaying with yourself? It is not advisable to roleplay a direct relative of your cat but it's not in the rules that you can't it just means that you have to make a new account and that takes up another of your character places as it would with any other character.


Q: My character is finished. What do I do from here?

A: My advice would be to go to the plotting page to view other plots that are going on and to see if you can establish a relationship with another cat so you're not all alone in your Clan. If your character is still not accepted then just be patient - there's only two admins and 60+ characters that all have to be monitored. If your character is not accepted within 24 hours you can ask politely when one of the staff is on and they will be happy to look him over.


Q: I've started roleplaying but I'm finding it difficult to write 250 words per post! Is there any way it can be lessened?

A: We all come down with writers block but it's not acceptable to write a short post anywhere. The players on here work hard on their posts to give you as much muse as possible. If you can't manage 250 words per post then there's little we can do with that :[

Try pad your posts out with feelings, what do they see? Hear? Is there prey about? Who are they thinking about? There is so much to write. It's your character. Work it ;3


Q: I have 20 mice. What are mice?

A: Mice are the currency of Decoy Dreams which you can use to buy special items from the shop. You can go as far down as -200 mice so you have a chance to build up another character OR do something to your original character... nothing as drastic as changing genetics.


Q: Do we have to keep the tom/she-cat ratio even?

A: Though it is nice to have even numbers the simple answer is no. Not everyone is on here for the sole intention of finding a mate and having kits so it doesn't really matter.


Q: My kittens are here!

A: Whoah! Slow down, It's cool that you have kittens but understand that they are a part of your character for the length of their stay. That means you will be limited for the first two weeks after their birth here as they develop which is perhaps one of the most challenging roleplaying experiences because you have limits if you're confined to the den. Before you even consider having kits be prepared for a good few moons of struggle. It's best to find other people to play your kits as you cannot roleplay with yourself.


Q: I'm having problems. Who can I get in contact with?

A: The best people to get in contact with are warpaw and cricketleap - you're lovable admins. They can tell you exactly what you need to do and there will be no misinterpretations. If you're needing help immediately and they aren't on either post in the Suggestions/Help board or message another member who's online but they are limited on how much they can tell you that's not written somewhere.


Q: You know what? I can't do this. I'm just going to quit. Can you delete my characters now?

A: That's your choice and if you're going to take that attitude then the kitty flap is over there. We appreciate that not everybody will stay here forever but we expect the same amount of respect in return as we have shown you. When we delete the characters we always delete the ones that are inactive (Haven't logged on before the activity check) so eventually the characters will be deleted anyway. If you'd like to retire a character then just let us know and we will give him a respectful send-off.

^ If you take a photo from google changes are it will be overused and pixel-ish, not only that but it's not CC enabled (Meaning that it's copyrighted). If you have specific markings such as a mark on her head it will be difficult to find a picture. I found a calico that is side-on so you can't see her face which is fine as you can see her other markings/her shape etc.

names: Smellykit, Smellypaw, Smellyfoot
(You need to strike out the 'used' names so we know what stage she/he is at.)
gender: She-cat
(Basic, if she was pregnant she would be a Queen. Male cat is a tom. In the rare occasion that your cat was once a kittypet, a neutered male cat is called a 'gib' and a female that is domestic is often referred to as a molly or a she-cat.)
age:
Number Moons.
(Apprentices are made at 6 moons at the earliest so be sure to include in her/his History if she/he is a NEW apprentice.)
clan:
RiverClan/ShadowClan/RiverClan/WindClan.
(The Clans are the same as the book. )
rank:
Apprentice/Warrior/Elder.
(You CANNOT join as a high position cat. Auditions are held and the outcome decided by the admin or the head of that Clan..)

personality:
First off, your personality will be one of the major factors that will make people want to RP with you so you have to make it count and stick to it to some degree though more traits can be added as you get in touch with the character. If in your bio you only have two traits it won't help people get the feel of her/him and they won't know how to react to her/him. Here is two personality traits as an example. NOT; It is not required to format your profile like this but it makes it easier to pinpoint talents etc. if another looks up your bio.

• Funny/Odd/Humorous/Peculiar (Examples of Synonyms that can be used in place to make her sound more original)
  Smellypaw is an apprentice with a wicked sense of humor. She's often misunderstood in her intentions as her humor is rather blunt and often rude. She's always trying to light up any situation with her witty jokes and verses that are sure to have her friends in knot... granted they understand them.
  
  (This is a good, short explanation that gets the point across without giving too much of her away. A paragraph will be fine per point.)
  
  
• Smart/Intellectual/Celever/Nimble
  Like the classic calico, her smarts go beyond wit. She's a logical little creature with a mind that will surprise you paired with her sweet nature. She prefers the company of older cats due to this gift as they have more things of interest to discuss. Her favorite topics are politics and hunting strategy.
  
  
• The best way to judge how many personality you need is to go by how old they are, especially if they are apprentices. Your cat is 7 moons, 7 traits will be more than enough.
  

appearance:
Not going to write this for you but I will give you an idea of what to write. Start at the head, what shape is it? Does she have a long/short muzzle? Are her eyes rounded or oval and what color are they? Does she have broad shoulders? And arch in her back? Are her legs long and swift or short and stocky? What is her fur length, color, density? What color is the fur around her face? Does she have any patterns that is unique to herself? Does she have any battle scars, tears in ther ears etc.? These are but a few. This is the shortest word requirements.

history:
Nobody can write this for you, not even me but I can give you a lovely little taster or what you've written so far if it was beefed up a bit.

Smellykit was born to two loving parents within the Clan. At just under a moon, her loving mother caught greencough which claimed her life shortly after she caught it leaving her kittens to fend for themselves. In a panic, Smellykit's father approached another nursing queen and begged her to nurse the kittens as her own until they were old enough to look after themselves. The queen was apprehensive but after looking at the defenseless kits her heart melted and she accepted them to her teats until they were old enough. It was if their father had sensed the coming as shortly after he found the Queen he too passed of green cough. As the kittens grew, the Queen named Cedarstep (used one of my own chracaters) told them of their parentage but assured them that their parents were watching form Starclan and if they had faith they could see their parents amongst the stars.

(This is the first paragraph of a bio. It will be easier if you break the past down to different stages like this,

This can be anything. Pick an 'average' post of yours - not your best because people will expect that of you ALL the time and not just for an opening post. This will not be used anywhere else on the site and if you wish to copyright it then that is entirely up to you. Sample RP's can come from any site.
