Can I be a decoy? YESYESYES! We are badly in need of decoys, and would love if you made one or more! There is no form to fill out - if you want a decoy character just make a bio, but put in the rank that your cat is a decoy along with your real ranking. That's about it!
What / who are decoys? Decoys are Clan cats, whether former rogue, a half-Clan cat, the leader, the medicine cat, or just a regular, full-blooded warrior. Whatever it is, they can be anything - an elder, a kit, a queen, or an apprentice! They look and act the same if they're smart. If they aren't... cats will notice. Then something terrible could happen.
What are the decoy's goal? Their goal is to rule - simple as that. They want power to their leader and deputy, Crimsonstar and Violetwhisper, even though Crimsonstar is already the leader of RiverClan. They hope for power themselves, so they help each other out. There are sometimes even decoy meetings, where they all get together if possible.
How did the decoys end up in the Clans? No cat knows for sure. There were rumors on how kits started to play a game while others watched in secret. They liked the idea, and tried it out for real. It recruited more cats. Others thought cats were influenced by the ancient Tigerstar and Scourge. Some think that a Clanmate was exiled from his Clan, and to get back at them, destroyed anyone unless they were a "decoy", like him.
Why are the decoys doing this? They want power. Most of them were either forced to be a decoy by a cat, or just wanted to be. A lot of them want power, and seek it by blood. They will do anything to become the leader or deputy, or to help the decoy leader.
How do you become a decoy? A kit may either be poisoned, be a decoy and not fully know it, or just want to be one. What the decoys call "poison" is when an older decoy, usually from the same Clan, puts images of death and destruction into a young kit's mind. The kit must be very young, otherwise it would have an idea of what's right and wrong. The older cat must manipulate the young cat until it believes in nothing but evil. Poisoning may take up to a few words or to a long speech. But usually the quicker, the better, before some cat notices that something is wrong.
Who is the decoy leader? As said above, Crimsonstar, leader of RiverClan. Unlike the Clans, the decoys don't believe in medicine cats. They may, but they just don't have one. If a decoy is injured, and the medicine cat can't heal them or won't, they will either die of the injuries or pull through. There is no in betweens. They recently recruited a deputy, Violetwhisper of ShadowClan. If Crimsonstar were to somehow die or be removed of her position for wrong-doing, Violetwhisper would become the next leader, and they would try their best for her to become ShadowClan's next leader.
How do the Clan cats not know about the decoys? As said above, if the decoys are smart, they'll hide what they are. Sometimes an evil comment will slip out, but doesn't that happen with every cat at some point? So that's what all of those non-decoys think - that they are just regular cats.
What is their connection to non-Clan cats? They don't have any connections with non-Clan cats, such as kittypets, rogues, and loners. That is why few think that it once started off with an angry loner what wanted to kill out the Clans.
Who knows about the decoys? Only leaders, sometimes deputies, and the medicine cats. The medicine cat apprentices don't even know unless their mentor tells them at some point. Those cats are keeping it from their deputies (sometimes, it would depend if the leader told them or what Clan), the queens, the kits, the apprentices, the elders, and especially the warriors. They don't want the Clans to fall into themselves and crash and burn. Clanmate against Clanmate is something that the medicine cat and leader of every Clan don't want to see, so they're keeping it a secret. This is very important. If your character is not a deputy, leader, or a REGULAR medicine cat, then they absolutely CANNOT know about decoys unless they ARE one! You will be messaged by me if they do know about them!
I don't want my cat to be a decoy anymore! What do I do? Unfortunately, your cat cannot stop being a decoy unless you want him / her to be murdered. You see, if decoys just keep dropping out, the decoys that aren't decoys could tell the loyal Clan cats who they are. They can anyway, but the plot is that cats can't stop being a decoy. They may not like being a decoy, but they must always be counted as one. Once they're apart of the 'gang' there is no way out but death.
Do you have to audition to be a decoy? Nope! You can just make a bio stating that your cat is a decoy, then that's it! Nothing else to it. But if the decoys need a leader or something else, then there will be auditions for those.
The FAQ is finished for now, but will constantly be updated as more questions come up.
Decoys are copyrighted to Cricketleap (aka Casey Godwin). If I or anyone else see you using the idea (whether on another RP site, in a book, on an art site, or whatever), then you WILL be reported to proboards staff AND to the police. I plan to be an author when I grow up, and this will be my first book idea.
