Dumbledore is dead.
He was hit with the killing curse and sent falling from the tower, signalling the beginning of Hogwarts' turmoil as the Death Eaters, lead by Voldemort, infiltrated the wizarding school and took positions of authority, placing every student in danger.
Mourning the loss of his mentor and father figure, Harry Potter and his best friends Hermione and Ron, left on their journey to find and destroy Voldemort's horcruxes, so that in the inevitable final battle between the two mortal enemies, the dark wizard would finally fall. It isn't easy as it sounds however - Harry hasn't a clue where the remaining horcruxes are, much less how to destroy them.
The trio's search is a battle against time as Hogwarts and it's students are tortured by the Carrows, bullied by the Slytherins and threatened into supporting Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Some of the students have turned to Dumbledore's Army to get them through the year, but nobody really knows what the future holds.
All they can hope for is to survive.
