Leafpaw Look up, I look up at night, Planets are moving at the speed of light. The sun was just past its peak and now began the slow descent back to the Earth. Although the sun shone brightly it was cold. The snow still lay on the ground in mounds, Leafpaw wished for Greenleaf, her favourite season. The most amazing part of the year, it was when prey was plentiful and it wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was perfect. Leafpaw actually wasn’t sure why she was out here. After all it was meant to be her first day of training as an apprentice. She should be excited and hoping around like she normally would. Leafpaw had been excited about becoming an apprentice and training to be a warrior all her life. But then she was assigned a mentor. It wasn’t that Leafpaw didn’t want one, she really did. She wanted to have an older cat helping her, someone she could talk to. Someone she knew she would trust for the rest of her life. But no, Leafpaw was stuck with perhaps the only cat she didn’t like within the whole clan. Violetwhisper. Leafpaw felt her fur bristle as she thought of the sleek deputy and her purple eyes that she knew would be full of anger at her disappearance. Leafpaw just couldn’t stay, she was unhappy that she had ended up with the deputy. Leafpaw found the deputy too controlling, mean, rude and stubborn a lot like her. Although she would never admit it, they had a lot the same, Leafpaw just thought she was better.
The soggy ground felt uncomfortable under Leafpaw’s felt so delicately she scraped away a bunch of leaves and snow from under a nearby tree leaving a small patch of dry ground. She sat down making herself comfortable, wrapping her tail around her paws. A slight cold breeze ruffles her fur, it made her shiver slightly. Leafpaw looked around herself again. To be honest she had no clue where she was, but she knew she could follow her scent home, but that also meant others could follow her. The young apprentice scowled. That was right, that meant any cat could follow her. Leafpaw wanted to be alone, not only did she hate her mentor, but she couldn’t bare facing an angry Hawkstar. Leafpaw opened her mouth a touch, doing exactly what her mother had done, she took a deep breath in, and she sneezed as all the scents washed through her, so strong and powerful. She pawed her nose trying to rid herself of the over powering smells. Some of them were familiar, but then others where a big mystery to the she-cat. Her eyes flicker to a nearby tree, she wanted to hide her scent, but to be honest she didn’t know how. Grudgingly Leafpaw stood up from the dry ground. She knew deep down that she had to head back. But she really did not want to. She could already see Violetwhisper’s scowl. It made Leafpaw curl her lip in distaste.
Leaf paw gave herself a quick shake, flicking her ear to flick of a tiny insect. She then gave herself a quick inspection. Her fur was dull, and some of her ribs were prominent under her short coat. It was just one of the signs of how hard Leafbare had really been. Of how little food the clan had had to survive on. It saddened Leafpaw when she looked at her fur, fur she so often kept in an amazing condition. She was usually so proud of her short coat, and the dappled patterns that rested on it. The small cat shook her head vanishing the thoughts from her mind, she needed to think of a way to get back to the clan without Violetwhisper realising she had left. That would be tricky, but Leafpaw was a very good liar. Although she would try, she knew that they would know she had gone. If your missing for half a day on as your first day as an apprentice that is not a good thing. Then what was the point of going back? Leafpaw sighed. She wasn’t sure if she should go back, but the longer she waited the worse it would be. Unhappily she began to walk. every chance that you get, is a chance you seize. Violetwhisper Your game is over now The ride is coming to an end Her brilliant purple orbs slid over the ground in front of her. The trail was simple to follow, an untrained apprentice wouldn't know how to cover her tracks. The black shadow behind the frustrated eyes sighed and began to move forward, sliding over the ground like a mist, not seeming to walk but rather to glide, or perhaps slither from one shadow to the next, barely discernible even in the midday sun light. Her eyes flashed and churned as her mind whirled with the possibilities, and frustrations that the day had caused her. A few weeks previous she'd been asked to Help with Snowpaws training, and now she was stuck with yet another apprentice. Leafpaw. She wasn't looking forward to this, but she'd had to fake excitement. She even sensed a little apprehension from Leafpaw, but she couldn't be sure. She felt apprehension, and suspicious looks from everyone these days. She felt everyone knew her secret. She shook the thoughts fro her head, she needed to concentrate. She paused her claws digging into the damp earth and snow. She parted her jaws and tasted the air, she could smell many things, but mostly the area was covered in the scent of her apprentice. She sighed again and moved forward slipping from shadow to shadow with barely a thought to her concealed movements.
She could scent a flurry coming on the wind, and knew that this would be a good lesson for her apprentice. She paused a few foxlengths away from her apprentice who was padding toward her. She tried to conceal the anger that surged in her chest. She flicked her ears and stepped out of the shadows seeming to materialize from them, in a way only she could achieve. "Nice day to play hide and seek from your mentor isn't it?" She asked calmly, though there was a hint of sarcastic bite in her tone. "Don't worry it's not like I had something exciting planned for you over the next few moons." She turned her head away to gaze toward the lake, which she clearly couldn't see through the trees. She was using a look of veiled annoyance, and concern. One she'd perfected with Snowpaw and Galepaw. She knew she may be being harsh, and even a little unfair, after all how often did she sneak out for camp, for rendezvous with other decoys... and that was much worse than leaving camp as an frustrated apprentice. She forced the thoughts from her mind. She didn't have time to live in regrets and guilt now. She had her orders.
"I've always said that Apprentices can gain as much training from cleaning dens and caring for elders, as they can actually out in the territory." She turned back to her apprentice and tried to adopt a motherly look of concern, and desire for Leafpaws wellbeing. She stared into the emerald green depths of her apprentices eyes, her own vivid purple orbs reflected in them, almost startling her with their combined brilliance. "What do you think you were trying to do Leafpaw?" She asked calmly, regaining her composure and for once pushing the mission out of her head. And it's time for you to face the music What goes comes back around (Lyrics Credit to "Face The Music" by Hoobastank)

Leafpaw It's been a long time coming And the tables' turned aroundThe she-cat had to admit that Violetwhisper stepping out in front of her, particularly materialising in front of her made her jump a little bit. But her shock wore off quickly to be replaced by a scowl. It was one of frustration and a little worry about actually being caught. Yet she found herself eyeing the Deputy with just as mush hate that she could see in the warriors eyes. They knew that they didn’t like each other. Well at the least Leafpaw finally knew that Violetwhisper didn’t like her. It made her flinch, but she kept her ground in front of the older cat. She wasn’t going to be weak. But sometimes you had to know when to back down. This was not one of those times. Leafpaw stares stubbornly at the cat, the forest around her seemed to not exist, it seemed to all blend in and all Leafpaw could hear was the steady beating of her own heart. What heart Leafpaw the most was the look of disgust? Or was it disapproval? Or even hate? In Violetwhisper’s eyes, it made Leafpaw wince… it hurt. No matter how much she disliked her mentor it still hurt when you knew that they were upset with you, but to hate you? That made you feel worthless.
Leafpaw was stubborn so she hide her emotions, but she knew her eyes would betray her. And still she would not let her gaze drop from the she-cats. The sarcasm in her words didn’t affect Leafpaw, she was use to throwing it around herself, but she couldn’t resist herself as she rolled her eyes at the deputy’s words. Her eyes although did prick with excitement at the mention of her first day and what they should have been doing. As Violetwhisper turned her gaze to the lake, but of course she couldn’t see it, Leafpaw took the chance to glare at the cat. She than sat down and curled her tail over her paws. "I've always said that Apprentices can gain as much training from cleaning dens and caring for elders, as they can actually out in the territory." Leafpaw’s heart seems to beat harder, and for the first time in this conversation her hurt sinks. She really wanted to learn how to fight. Leafpaw really didn’t want to be cleaning out nests. She looks briefly down at her paws. Her eyes blazing with anger at her foolishness, but also at her mentor’s hatred. She thought her mentor was mean, and not very nice at all, but she was a good warrior.
She turns her fierce gaze back onto Violetwhisper’s and for a long time they stare at each other. She could see how the purple stood out against the black fur, and the way Leafpaw’s green eyes shone in her eyes. She could see the stubbornness and anger in her eyes. She instantly stopped and realised just how silly she was being, but she still felt horrible and wanted to just turn and run. Runaway from the cat. Runaway from herself. She stares at Violetwhisper, she was unsure of how she felt, or even how she should act. She felt really awkward and maybe even a little ashamed of herself. “What do you think you were trying to do Leafpaw?" She seemed to gain control of herself, and her voice even seemed to soften a touch. This made Leafpaw feel even guiltier. “You don’t like me. I wanted to go for a walk. I wanted to think and I want to know why you don’t like me. Don’t give me any foxdung about this. You didn’t like me before know.” She pauses. “Or is it just me, the way you always look at other cats. As if you don’t want to train me, I want to be the best warrior. I know you are amazing and so loyal. I want to be like you. You love this clan. You’re an amazing cat.” Leafpaw looks briefly up at the cat before standing again. She wanted to leave. Violetwhisper For all we've watched you always take the path of least resistance We've seen you searching for a way that you can cheat the system Her eyes never shifted their slightly concerned and disappointed gaze. She flicked her tail and pulled her haunches under her, and wrapped her long black tail around her dainty black paws. Once her tail had settled she curled her claws into the snow and packed earth. She allowed her apprentice to go on, and when she fell silent Violetwhisper did not immediately speak. But instead she sat as silent and still as a shadow, staring at her apprentice, as if sizing her up again, trying to decide what to tell her. If the truth, well the fake truth, would do, or if she needed a lie. It seemed to her that this apprentice craved approval, and needed discipline at the same time. Fine, I can work with that. she thought, tilting her head ever so slightly to the side, giving the effect of shifting shadows in the sunlight. She'd learned a great deal of using her color to intimidate and manipulate from her mother, her claws dug a whisker breadth deeper at the thought of that foul she-cat.
Slowly she realized that she needed to answer both her apprentices accusations, and her flattery, and she sighed inwardly. Sometimes apprentices are too emotionally unstable. She flicked the tip of her tail and tilted her head back straight, opening her mouth so that her white teeth and pink tongue flashed against her black fur. "Finished are you?" She said stifling a yawn. "For the official record, I do not hate you, I do not dislike you, wherever you got that idea I shall never know." She retracted her claws carefully so that they would remain un noticed and stood. As she raised her haunches from the ground a light breeze, carrying the scents of the lake wrapped it self around her for a moment and then flew away as if teasing and enticing her to follow. She licked her lips and turned her face to follow the breeze. She wanted, with all her heart to run in the wind with Hawkstar, she didn't even know if that would ever be. She had a deep secret he could never know. She shook her head and turned back to her apprentice, taking the longing look out of her eyes, and turning it back to disappointment.
"I thank you for your kind words, but I will retain my judgement of you until I've seen your ability." She said and lifted her head. "It is not your I don't want to train Leafpaw, it is all apprentices. I do not wish to..."This is the point where her mind and her tongue disagreed. Her mind finished the sentence "Bring anyone else to harm." but her tongue gave a better answer, one that would not arouse questions "take the joy from the younger warriors." At this she lashed her tail and looked toward the lake. She sighed inwardly and knew that she needed to give the apprentice some kind of lesson. "You are lucky, Leafpaw, that I do not wish to go back to camp just yet. I suppose I could take you to see the territory today." She looked back at her apprentice, forcing a look of stern discipline and unprecedented humor, to flash across her eyes. "But when we return to camp, you will clean the elders, nursery, and warriors dens, and replace ALL their bedding." She said and turned to head toward the lake. No better place to start, we can end at Riverclans territory. She thought. You had us fooled but now the truth has finally been uncovered We'll never look at you the same because we've all discovered (Lyrics Credit to "Face The Music" by Hoobastank)

Leafpaw You can treat this like another all the same But don't cry like a bitch when you feel the pain Leafpaw glares up at Violetwhisper she could feel the fur along her back bristle. The compliment hadn’t worked. She scowls at the she-cat. She was, to Leafpaw the opposite of loyal. She couldn’t understand how the compliment hadn’t worked. All cats love to have good things said about them. She frowned thoughtfully. This cat was different, she just didn’t act the way all the rest of the cats in the clan did. Ever since Leafpaw was young she had adopted a very good knowing of how the clan worked, she understood how each individual cat had its place and that most cats loved flattery. It was the best way to win them over. She stared distastefully at her mentor. She didn’t like this cat. Her fur bristles with indignation, that was not fair! Why did she have to clean out the dens, all of them! She curls her upper lip, but with great restraint she chokes back the snarl. She hated this cat so much more.
Leafpaw however looked up at her in surprise as she said that they still would be able to have a look at the territory. She felt excitement rush through her as she thought of her home and the territory that she lived in. Her whiskers twitched in the beginning of a smile. She wanted to run around her home; she wanted to see the place she had been kept from all her life so far. But she felt a certain restraint being pulled in herself. The young she-cat didn’t trust Violetwhisper. She didn’t like the way she looked at her, or how she faked mock concern. Leafpaw was a smart cat. She stares at Violetwhisper’s retreating figure. She watched as the sleek black cat spun and trotted into the forest, leading Leafpaw further away from home. Leading Leafpaw on the adventure she had always wanted. Leafpaw scowled, she really wanted to go, and her paws itched to run in the forest beside a cat that would teach her how to become the best that she could. She wanted Violetwhisper to know she was dangerous and someone she shouldn’t just brush away so easily.
But to do all that would mean being obedient to the cat. That was something that Leafpaw didn’t want. She took a glance behind her, she could head back to camp, and she could. But that would mean cleaning and missing out on seeing her territory and running with the ground underfoot always changing. She wanted to feel the way your throat could burn as cold air raced through your pumped body. She didn’t want to clean out dirty moss; she didn’t want to see an angry mother. Reluctantly she took a step forward, she started heading towards Violetwhisper. She takes a last glance behind her back staring in the direction of camp; she was not going to be obedient. She was going to play Violetwhisper’s game. But no game was good unless someone made it fun.
The ground felt amazingly soft under her paws, the excitement of what she was finally about to do made her sprint to catch up with the older cat. Violetwhisper wasn’t far ahead and she had been going at a trot. She slows down coming to a stop beside her mentor. She looks into her purple eyes with new determination. This was going to be fun. This is hardly worth fighting for But it's the little petty shit that I can't ignore With my fist in your face and your face on the floor (OOC: This post is really bad xD) (Lyrice credit to Sick Puppies "Your Going Down")

Violetwhisper We've watched you swear that everything we've heard was fabricated You said the stories were all false or just exaggerated She snorted as the trotted away sensing the empty space beside and behind her. If she goes back to camp, she'll be taking ticks off the elders for a moon. She thought and flicked her tail. She heard the apprentice thumping along behind her racing to catch up and she rolled her eyes, reminding herself that this was Leafpaw's first time out of camp, and that she needed to learn how to move quickly and quietly so as to never disturb the prey. No matter what your patrol was doing. "You need work on your stealth." She mewed as the apprentice came up beside her and fell instep with her. She tried to keep her voice relaxed, and not entirely irritated. Afterall it wasn't Leafpaw's fault Violetwhisper was in the situation she was in... It was her own fault. No. It's Crimsonstar's fault. It was her plan She snarled inwardly.
"Let your body melt into your surroundings. As a member of Shadowclan you were born and bred for stealth. It's in your blood." She closed her eyes and moved through the forest she knew so well. Her paws falling into a familiar pattern. "Feel for the ground before you hit it with each pawstep, and as your paw make contact sink into it but don't force your body down, let it move naturally, flowing from one step to the next, barely disturbing a speck of dust as you race full tilt to battle." She opened her eyes and slid around a tree, her pelt disappearing for an instant in the shadows. She turned to look at her apprentice, "You try." She mewed as they continued through the forest. "I don't want any of the prey to know we're moving through the territory. We should be a part of the shadows. Shadows don't disturb what they fall on, they merely fold around it, conforming to it's shape. Let your body be a shadow."
She was suddenly thrust back to her own first session with her mentor. Her's of course had been much different, as he'd been a decoy, and her poisoner. She forced the thought from her mind. Wouldn't it be nice to just be a normal deputy....to be a normal warrior? NO! I will not betray Crimsonstar...What about Hawkstar...Don't you love him? She flicked her ears and silenced the argument in her head. It tormented her enough at night. In the silent before she slept, it echoed around her mind, the argument running in circles over and over again. She forced her attention back to Leafpaw, trying to see how she was doing, before she realized they'd made it to the lake. "This is the lake, Obviously." She said and turned to pad toward the Thunderclan border. But it turns out that you're the one who's making up the stories Keeping us in the dark while you bask in your own fame and glory (Lyrics Credit to "Face The Music" by Hoobastank)
