Violetwhisper Now it's happened once or twice Someone couldn't pay the price And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals Eyes narrowed at the thought of being this close to another clan's camp her shoulders hunched and claws unsheathed she slunk along the tall reeds. She was so close that the stench of Riverclan warriors was almost over powering. She'd rolled in several prey scents to disguise her scent, she couldn't go around bringing Shadowclan scent into Riverclan territory, that wouldn't go over well for anyone. She could see the camp through the reeds, and she flicked her tail anxiously. She watched the camp, seeing warriors rise and leave through the place she assumed was the main entrance. Riverclan, being set on a small island in the middle of a river had many entrances and exits. She'd forced herself to swim across the freezing water and now she lay in the reeds, mud soaking her belly, and she turned to lick her pelt dry. She finished and crouched back down her body stiffening as she watched the camp. THe sun was well past dawn, and was creeping past sunhigh. Most of the warriors should be out hunting, or on patrol. She needed to sneak quickly to Crimsonstar's den and speak with her. As her second in command she needed to get some things clear before she alerted the rest of the Decoys to the meeting that was planned for the quarter moon at moon high.
She watched her violet eyes shifting back and forth between warrior and apprentice. Between elder sunning and queen rounding up her kits. She smiled lightly. How simple it would be if one were to wander here, un noticed. She could poison them and send them back into their clan, to destroy them from the inside out. She smiled, Guided under the great and cunning eye of Crimsonstar herself. She flickered her gaze again across the camp. Perhaps she would need to wait until nightfall before she could get into Crimsonstar's den. She sighed and tucked her paws under her chest fluffing ehr fur out against the cold. She wasn't fearful of being found, Riverclanners were so lazy, it wasn't like them to go sticking their nose where it didn't belong, even within their own camp. And Violetwhisper, being Crimsonstar's deputy for the decoys, knew that this was where the leader had been found dead, at Crimsonstar's paw.
She smiled at the thought, she'd gotten word the next day, that Crimsonleaf had become Crimsonstar, or would soon. She smiled, she'd known less than a moon later that she was second in command, now she needed to report to Crimsonstar on her progress with gaining Hawkstars trust. Once they had two clans, the could take the others by force. No one would question the leaders. The leaders word is the warrior code She repeated to herself her body quivering slightly with excitement. Crimsonstars plan was all falling into place. She would gain control of Shadowclan, and quickly force both clans to come together. She'd concede leadership and become second in command to Crimsonstar. Then they would be one large clan versus two. She smiled and dug her hind claws into the ground, wishing they were in the pelt of one cat or another. She shook the thoughts from her head and shifted her gaze back to the camp watching a group of kits, playing outside what she assumed was the nursery. Yes I've had the odd complaint But on the whole I've been a saint To those poor unfortunate souls (Lyrics Credit to "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid)
Ooc: Sorry this is a little...meh...let's get the poisoning on! =D

Her game of playing in the soft, powdery snow soon ended when the little adventurous kit grew bored. Like all young cats, she had a lot of energy and loved playing mouse-brained things, like rolling in the white stuff dubbed 'snow'. Sparrowkit, who was the smallest in the litter of four, watched as a tiny snowflake, about the size of the tip of her claw, drifted down and landed silently on her nose. With a curious giggle, the tabby-and-white she-cat playfully swiped the snow off of her pale pink nose, a grin plastered on her jaws. The snow was so fun! She wondered why all of the big cats were making a huge fuss over leaf-bare. Snow was great! I love snow, she thought with one last roll in it. It covered her pelt from head to tail, making her look like a white cat with light brown eyes. Sparrowkit watched as it rolled down her shoulders as she shrugged them. The kit looked around for her brothers and denmates. They were all much larger than her already - Zerokit, Slatekit, and Riverkit. But where was her mom? Excitement tingled in her paws as she realized that no adult was watching her and her siblings. Some warriors and older apprentices were out, but they were laying down lazily. It was time for an adventure.
She was going to call to her brothers - especially Slatekit. But if she yowled out to them, everybody would know what she was up to. So she would sneak away by herself while they all played. Quietly squeaking, Sparrowkit lowered her body like she was stalking a mouse and slid forward on her belly. She would be hard to see to the older cats because the snow was nearly as tall as her, and that she blended in well with the background. A small noise came from her throat that sounded delighted. She was about to have an adventure when her brothers were just doing kit-games! A chuckle escaped past her lips, then she walked forward carefully.
The kit approached the camp wall quickly and without disturbing a fly. Warriors went in and out the camp entrance, and she wished that she could follow them. For a moment she was tempted to, but she didn't want to risk it. She swerved the other way and headed toward a huge wall of reeds. She could play in them for a bit then return to her brothers, make up a huge story for them, then nap by her mother's belly while drinking her milk. Trotting over to the ferns, Sparrowkit ducked in between two particularly long stalks. But then she paused suddenly, her little head perked high in the air. She smelled something, but she wasn't sure what. It wasn't long before she realized that there was another cat hiding in the reed bed. Surprised, Sparrowkit looked on at the black she-cat. But something was different about her, and it wasn't just her piercing violet eyes. It was her smell. She didn't have the same fishy scent as the RiverClan cats did; she smelled like pine trees and swamps. Should she be cautious? Whatever. "Oh, hello! Are you a RiverClan warrior? I've never seen you around before, miss!" She happily scampered over to the black she-cat. Just wait until I tell my brothers that I met a new cat!

Violetwhisper Oh what a tangled web we weave When we practice to deceive Violet eyes flashing as sparrowkit drew nearer, she flicked her ears and pulled hersellf deeper into the shadows of the reeds, which were very very few. She smiled an evil little smile as the desire came over her to bring another into their ranks, right under Crimsonstar's nose. This was the perfect ploy. What a perfect way to spend her time in waiting to report to Crimsonstar, poisoning a kit in her own clan. She grinned maliciously and backed a little further willing the curious and adventurous kit to continue after her. She finaly fame to a stop deep in the wall of reeds, certain that no passerby would hear them, nor scent them through the snow and frozen reeds. She flicked her ears forwrad watching the kit draw ever closer excitement welling in her chest and belly. She flicked her tail and moved into a sitting position drawing her tail around her paws looking dark as a shadow, and tall as a pine.Except of course for her striking violet eyes. She looked down at the young kit, taking note that should couldn't be more than 2 or 3 moons old. Perfect age to manipulate, still to trusting to realize what in influence over her I would have, but old enough to know better than to open her mouth and tell her mother She thought cunningly.
Her claws dug into the ground as the kit entered the little clearing she was sitting in. She released the ground and raised a paw to her mouth lapping it and drawing it over her ear slowly as the young kit spoke. She smiled down at her, trying to keep her eyes from betraying the malicious intensity that she felt. "Oh you could say I'm part of Riverclan." She said cryptically. her eyes glancing towards the camp before falling back on Sparrowkit, a flicker of excitement and secrecy in her eyes. "But I'm a bit more special than just your average warrior." She mewed dropping her head slightly and flicking her paws beckoning Sparrowkit forward. "I'm like an elite warrior of all the clans." She said. Her words of deception made her feel like a spider weaving an intricate pattern, but being very careful not to allow any of the wrong lines to cross. She walked delicatly along this web of lies and manipulation, drawing her prey, this kit, much like a stupid fly, ever closer to the center of her web. Where she could capture it and infect it with the deadliest poison there was.
She smiled inwardly at this thought and allowed her eyes to flash again with excitement. "I can tell you a little more about it if you like." She said her voice soft and calm, but full of confidence, and dripping with the sweet honey of information that led most kits to their doom. "But you must promise to keep it a secret. Not to tell a single soul. Not even your mother or siblings, if you have any." She said flicking her tail tip slightly at the anticipation now building within her chest. She lifted her head slightly and inclined her head tilting it to one side as if to survey the kit. "What is your name young one?" She asked. She knew that to overload a kit with the opportunity of so much secret information, and over load her with questions, and small responsibility was the way to gain trust, and break down the walls that even the most open kits put up when the poisoning began. We play our games and tell our lies And synchronize our alibis (Lyrics Credit to "The Other Woman, The Other Man" by Gerard Kenny)

Even though she had just met the violet-eyed she-cat, she could feel trust filling her belly. She smelled like pine, not like the fishy stench of RiverClan cats, but somehow the little tabby-and-white kitten already liked her. There was a flash of excitement lighting those deep purple eyes every now and then, as if she were replaying scenes and stories in her mind that made her delightful. Sparrowkit gave a small little wriggle, hoping that Violetwhisper didn't think she was growing impatient. Her own light brown eyes were dancing with happiness. What would her brothers think when she told them about meeting a new warrior? They would probably be jealous with her. With a sweet, innocent smile, she looked up at the dark she-cat. Something flashed into her mind, but she couldn't put her paw on it. It was like her conscious was trying to tell her to be careful around this odd she-cat or run back to her mother. The little kit hesitated. She had never felt that way before, when something felt dangerous but just wasn't when she looked at it. Violetwhisper sure didn't look like she could be a threat. She looked nice. Sparrowkit shoved her misgivings to the back of her mind and concentrated on the new cat once again. I hope she didn't notice my hesitation, she thought vaguely. For her age, Sparrowkit was a thoughtful cat that seemed wiser beyond her moons. But for once, she was going to prove herself and anyone who believed that wrong.
She listened to the strange cat's words, her own excitement growing in her chest. Her little heart fluttered, not out of nervousness. And when the huge she-cat told her that she was a bit more special than the average warrior, she immediately thought 'deputy'. But Violetwhisper never said that she was a deputy, and she continued to talk without mentioning it, saying that she was an elite warrior. An elite warrior? In all of the tales that the elders had told her in her short three moons of life, she'd never heard of that term. What did it mean? This cat really was special, Sparrowkit decided. She had the title of elite warrior. She'd never heard of any other cat - at least, not in RiverClan - that was called that. Slatekit, you poor one! You won't get to meet this wonderful, awesome cat. Maybe next time she'll visit you instead. Sparrowkit wasn't going to go back to get her brother or any of the warriors. They'd either not come with her or... they'd hog the tree-smelling she-cat to themselves! No. Just no. Sparrowkit had seen her first, so she got to have Violetwhisper first. It was only fair.
Then she spoke again. Anticipation prickled in her paws. A secret? Sparrowkit pondered that for a second. A secret from her siblings, parents... everyone? She could handle everyone but Slatekit. Something about the gray tabby made her wish that he was there right now. He was her favorite brother. No, favorite cat. But would it be worth it, to hide it, to hear what this she-cat had to say? One word flashed into her mind. Yes. She would keep it in secret, and Violetwhisper would tell whatever it was she had to tell to a kit. "Yes, tell me more. I promise. I promise that I will keep it from every cat." Remembering the manners that her mother had taught her, she added, "Please?" If Sparrowkit were looking down on herself being another cat, she would look quite silly. But she didn't care, as long as Violetwhisper didn't think of her as an ill-mannered kit. "I'm Sparrowkit," she meowed, puffing up her chest proudly and snapping out of her thoughts. Then she focused everything on that secret. "Really, you can trust me to keep your secret. I won't tell anyone, I promise!" Her tail twitched slightly. "And who are you?" she finally asked, trying to take her mind off of the thing Violetwhisper was about to tell her.

Violetwhisper I'm not that innocent. You see my problem is this: Her violet eyes filled with anticipation and excitement. She could almost feel the trust emanating from the kit before her like a fresh spring breeze warming her pelt, and calling her onward. She smiled and flicked her ears forward as the kits words floated up finding their way into Violetwhisper's ears and down to her thoughts. She smiled, brighter, albeit slightly maliciously, and nodded gently toward the kit. "Good, I knew when I saw you that you could be trusted." She said and crouched down pulling her tail away rom her paws for a moment, before tucking them under her chest. She let her tail lay out to the side of her blacker than shadow against the dusting of snow that lay beneath the reeds. "Only the cleverest kit such as yourself could find me, the stealthiest decoy in all the land, here hidden in the reeds." She said letting the words slip from her mouth, the small bit of information sure to draw the kit in even closer to her, solidify even more her desire to keep their meeting secret.
She licked her lips the prospect of finally beginning the poisoning making her mouth water. She loved the tang of blood in her mouth and reliving the memories she was about to share with the young kit made her almost quiver with excitement She blinked her eyes bringing herself back to reality and realizing the kit had asked her name. She widened her eyes inquisitively, and smiled a half smile, that was meant to show interest at the youngness of the kit. "My name is Violetwhisper." She mewed blinking her eyes warmly, "Violet, obviously, for my eyes, and whisper because that's what i'm like." She paused and flicked her eyes back toward camp, checking that none were missing the kit just yet. "I come like a shadow, drifting over the ground, none know I'm coming until it's to late, they have no chance before their blood spills at my paws." Her words were soft, full of menace and danger, but her voice still had the honey sweet tone to it.
"The world is full of death and dangers, little kit." She mewed, "Filled with the blood and screams of pain of your enemies." She let her eyes dance with the light of battle, feeling her claws tear into the flesh of another cat and she had to suppress another quiver of excitement. She blinked, agin bringing her back from her memories into the real world, back to the kit who sat before her, eager, and easily manipulated. " Do you know why that is Sparrowkit?" She asked dropping her voice ever so slightly and leaning forward to show the urgency and importance of what she was about to say. "A bright kit like you may already have an idea." She mewed her eyes flashing with a hunger for battle. I'm dreaming away; Wishing that heroes, they truly exist. (Lyrics Credit To "Oops I Did It Again" by Brittany Spears)
Ooc: Hope this is okay...I'm still trying to work out how exactly to poison....so hope this is good enough. =)

What was so great about that elite warrior that made Sparrowkit's fur crawl? Was it her special position? The deep purple yet bright, eager eyes that just held secrets and promises? And yet something about this new cat that smelled of trees rather than fish was... odd. Like, something wasn't adding up exactly. What was she doing here? Were there other elite warriors? Why weren't there any in RiverClan? Why did she smell disgusting, like mold and leaves rotting? So many questions came and went in the kit's young, small mind that she couldn't keep up with them all. But Violetwhisper looked pretty comfortable in RiverClan land even though she obviously wasn't apart of the Clan. Even still, Sparrowkit thought that she should be a little bit cautious around her. Something dangerous was about to happen, and even she could tell. Maybe Violetwhisper could sense it, too? But she didn't look nervous at all. Maybe she is the danger, she thought. But after a moment, she decided that a sweet cat like her couldn't be evil. "Decoy?" she wondered aloud in wonder. "What is that, Violetwhisper? Please, please, please tell me!" It was the first time she'd spoken the new cat's name aloud, and for some reason she liked the sound of it. Now she trusted the black she-cat a little more now that she knew her name.
When Violetwhisper talked about blood, it sent a cold shiver running down her tail. Why blood? "Mother always told me that blood is scary," she told Violetwhisper honestly, but even she couldn't suppress the whimper that rolled off of her tongue. She twitched her tail, her eyes suddenly terrified, thinking about what a big cat like her could do to her. "Why would you want there to be screams full of pain from your enemies, Violetwhisper. I mean, I know the other three Clans are supposed to be my enemy and not my friend, but I don't want to see them suffer. It's cruel!" she squeaked loudly. But then she remembered that this cat was supposed to be a secret, so she quieted herself. Even though that the thought of it made her queasy, she told the black cat was she earnestly thought. "Is it because that's the way things were meant to be? Maybe StarClan wanted us to all be fighting all of the time. My mom didn't tell me anything otherwise. She actually never really told me anything about fighting and blood, to be truthful, besides the fact that it's bad an' all." She approached Violetwhisper now, stopping at her huge paws. Then she stared up into those purple eyes. "I'm probably wrong, but is blood actually good? Killing... is that what the world's supposed to be like?"

Violetwhisper Come on you poor unfortunate soul Go ahead!
Her eyes flashed, humor and excitement. She knew she had the kit now. She had her trapped, and the images were now going to begin pouring into her minds eye, confusing her. She flicked the tip of her tail and extended her claws, but they were concealed under her chest. "A decoy, is something or someone, that distracts, or draws attention away from the real danger. They may also be used to draw the prey in very close before the attack is launched." She said and smiled blinking her eyes and flashing her teeth at the word attack. "The decoy's that I am a part of, that I am deputy of, fall under the second definition more so than the first." She said and tilted her head slightly turning her attention to the kits second question. This was much easier than she had remembered. Her claws extended again pricking her own flesh, but mot drawing blood. She retracted them and licked her lips, as if the taste of blood was on her lips and she relished it.
"Blood is life. killing is what the world is about. That's why apprentices train. They learn to kill, learn to attack weaker opponents. THey learn to rip skin from bone, letting the life of their opponent, their blood fall to the ground and drench it." She smiled again her eyes narrowing mischievously. "But the decoys, we are working to stop all this killing. We work to bring power to one. IF there are no more clans, there will be no more killing, no more blood spilled, and we will rule the forest." She said her fur standing up on end, she shook herself as a shiver of power and desire flew down her spine. "But we are not above the law of the world. We must stay secret. We kill those who find out about us and will not join us. We make their blood drop from their throats, the life in their eyes fading under the sharp deadly claws of the decoys." She felt again the shiver of power running down her spine again. She looked at the kit taking in her small frame, her eager nature, and her willingness to keep secrets. She knew she would make a good addition to their ranks, btu she had to make it seem like it was the kits idea...perhaps make her beg to join. Make your choice! I'm a very busy woman and I haven't got all day (Lyrics Credit to "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid)

So Violetwhisper was the decoy deputy and also an elite warrior. How fascinating - even if she didn't quite understand what a decoy was or did. Even if the black she-ca that smelled like trees did smile a bit too much for her liking, she truly adored her. Admired her, even. Her bright tan eyes flicked over to the decoy with wide curiosity. She didn't know that this would be her last day behaving like a regular kit. She would be poisoned from now on, and would be terrified about covering up her deadly secret. If any of the other warriors knew what she was about to become, they wouldn't think twice about killing her, even if she appeared to be an innocent kit... "You're deputy of the decoys?" Sparrowkit managed to spit out at last. That was it? She was a very cautious cat for her age, making her look wiser. Maybe it was because of the help from her brother, Slatekit, who was also much more mature than Riverkit and Zerokit. "That's impressing," she admitted, her head lowering a bit. She was in the presence of a deputy. It had to be like a Clan deputy, right? Violetwhisper had a high position, just like Stagshadow did. Now she didn't have just two cats to look up to, but three. Sparrowkit wanted so badly to tell her brother, but she knew that she would be breaking the purple-eyed she-cat's promise. The tabby-and-white kit focused her gaze on the decoy once she began speaking again, trying to control her behavior now that she knew more of her background.
Sparrowkit listened carefully until she was finished, careful to not cut off when she had something to comment on. To prove that she was a good girl, she had to watch her manners. "That makes sense," she meowed once she was sure Violetwhisper had finished. It wasn't what her mother had started to teach her about the ways of the Clan, but Howlingsong wasn't a deputy, was she? Shouldn't she listen to someone with a higher position than her own mother? What did Howlingsong know that the average mother didn't? Sparrowkit thought that she should take Violetwhisper's word, not her own flesh and blood. "So if someone finds out about you guys, you have to kill them? Is it like a secret club or something? Yeah, that sounds cool!" She paused, rising to her small feet and staring up at the decoy. "I will have to keep this a secret, but wouldn't it be easier if I were with you? May I join, please, Violetwhisper? May I be a decoy like you?"

Violetwhisper Haul her in use the smile Grab her heart go the mile
Her eyes traveled over the young kit. She had her hooked now. She was stuck waiting for an answer. She flicked her ears and changed her gaze as if dissecting the young kit. She tilted her head from side to side, taking in every aspect of the kit as if deciding if she were good enough or not. Can't appear to eager to let her in She reminded her self but deep within her heart, if you could call it that, excitement fluttered. She flicked her tail and stood to her paws. She took a few steps forward and walked elegantly around the kit, pausing here and there to stare silently at her form, as if taking her in. She moved back to her original spot and lay back down tucking her paws under her chest once more. At this point she focused her eyes on Sparrowkit's her eyes shifted ever so slightly back and forth between Sparrowkits. As if searching the kits soul. Looking for that tell tale piece of the soul which announced the ability to kill without remorse, or at least to kill on command.
She moved her head forward until it was laying almost on the ground, almost nose to nose to the kit. She flicked her tail and slowly pulled her head back and blinked slowly lifting her head in a superior way. Be convincing, She thought to herself and looked away from the kit. "I don't know Sparrowkit. Being a part of the decoys is a big responsibility." She turned abck to the kit and tilted her head slightly to the side. "Perhaps you might be of some use to us." She licked her lips. She went back to the first question the kit had posed. "Yes, it is highly important that we remain secret." Her words were soft, and solid. "Therefore we must kill those who find out about us, or " She paused her head turning sharply back to the kit, "Those who have the misguided opinion that they can leave once inducted into the program." She said and blinked taking the threat out of her eyes. "I think you could join us, you won't want to leave ever will you Sparrowkit." She asked tilting her head to the side. Should she be back home? No. Each heartbeat she thought that her mother would burst through the reeds and drag her back to her play, but Howlingsong never came. The little kit was starting to feel more and more comfortable around Violetwhisper the longer she was with her. A quiet purr escaped her throat. She was so excited that she couldn't even remember if she'd ever asked her what Clan she was from! Would the elite warrior actually accept her to be a decoy? Her heart thudded loudly in her chest. But being a decoy would be a huge responsibility, she realized. It would require her keeping a secret not only from her mother and brother, but her entire family and Clan. Would she even be able to handle it? After all, she was only a kit at three moons old. Something could happen when she would accidentally blurt it out... then she would be in huge trouble, right? Sparrowkit wasn't entirely sure if Violetwhisper would harm her or not. Something told her to be cautious, but the purple-eyed she-cat had basically said everything about her... so why was she worrying?
"Well..." she began, looking down slightly to be respectful. "You've told me this much about decoys already, right? So you must have seen something in me from the very beginning. You must have seen that I'd be a good decoy. So if I didn't turn into one, I'd be a decoy but know about them, right? Shouldn't I become one then? Since I know as much as a member - or more than my Clanmates, since I've never heard decoys be mentioned before - then I should join you guys, right?" She paused. "I'd be honored to join you. I think I'd like it." The tabby-and-white kit could barely control her happiness.
"I think I could be a good use to you, too! Please, Violetwhisper? At least think about it if you can't decide right now? I promise on my life that I'll keep decoys a promise - I won't tell anyone. Not even Slatekit!" She blinked when she heard the word 'kill', not even flinching. It was as if she was born to be a decoy. "I will never leave you, if you let me be a decoy. That is another thing I can promise, Violetwhisper."

Violetwhisper Talk to her ease her worry No time what's the hurry
"Hmmmm" She mewed softly, blinking calmly at the kit as she spoke, so confidently, and wisely, about becoming a decoy. She smiled lightly as the kit promised her life to the decoys. "I think we'll take you Sparrowkit." She mewed and flicked the tip of her tail nonchalantly. "As you've stated, you already know so much about us, it would be unwise of me to deny you entrance." She flicked her ears and looked past the it, toward the camp. the sun was beginning to set, the kit would soon be missed. She still hadn't been to see Crimsonstar, but perhaps that wasn't to be missed. A smile slid across her face and she narrowed her eyes as she looked back at the kit. "I think you will prove very useful today Sparrowkit." She mewed and flicked her tail again.
Her head turned toward the sky and she inwardly rolled them, "I, Violetwhisper, deputy of the decoys, and deputy of Shadowclan, do hereby bond this kit to the decoys. She has pledged her life, and soul to gain and power." She dropped her eyes to the kit, "DO you Sparrowkit take this oath?" She asked. I'm pretty good at this making things up. She thought to herself and flicked her ears forward. She waited for the kits response and continued. "Then you are now a full decoy, and with that tile comes responsibilities. You must protect your secret even at the cost of the lives of others. Now for your first mission." She mewed and smiled Her teeth flashing.
"When you see Crimsonstar, at a safe and non suspicious time of course," She paused letting her words sink in. "Tell her that 'The violet whispers well to the hawk, and the stars shine upon them.' can you manage that?" She asked calmly, and flicked her left ear, as though flicking away a fly. "Now. I must return to my clan. Keep watch, listen and I will find you again." She smiled and batted the kits ear, as if welcoming her into a clan she licked her head and stood stretching her limbs slowly as she waiting for the right moment to make her departure. Casual give and take And please don't hesitate (Lyrics Credit to "Hot Body" by React 7)
