The morning was particularly cool, unlike how warm it seemed to get in the middle of the day. Warpaw had walked through the forest, the lush vegetation brushing his fur as he walked by. There were few things in this life that gave him pleasure, but these early morning walks were just so relaxing and quiet. A low purr rumbled in his chest, an unusual sound for the anti-social tom. Flickers of sunlight seeping through the leafy canopy above danced along his dark fur, his haunted yellow eyes appearing as a warm color in this faint light. The ferns draped over his shoulders as he pushed his way through the undergrowth. Warpaw had to admit that although he didn't hold any true feeling for his Clan, he did like ThunderClan's territory. But today, he was off to see another territory that had successfully captured his interest. He was closer now, as it seemed, since the soft gurgling of the stream reached his ears. Picking up his pace, he trotted forward, tail flicking in a subtle form of excitement. The forest thinned out here, and he slowed when he approached the slowly moving water. Leaning down, he lapped at the water, its sweet coolness making him sigh in calm bliss. Raising his head, he dull yellow eyes glinted with an unknown expression of emotion. The morning sunrise made the moorland grasses seem to shine with a pale glow. His eyes traveled easily over the rolling hills, picking out the distinct coloring of the flowers sprouting up over the landscape. As unexpected as it may be, Warpaw enjoyed staring at the wonders of nature. Perhaps he might not be one to admire beauty, but it was just one of those things. His mother had once told him the world was not beautiful. He supposed he believed her.
But even the darkest of souls needs an escape. A piece of peace, as one could say. Something to hold on to, no matter how twisted you became. The shelter in a storm, and Warpaw knew he needed it. It was his speculation that everyone was alike in some way or another. Despite borders and codes and Clans, they were connected somehow. With a sigh, he readjusted himself to different thoughts. WindClan territory thoughts. Now, Warpaw wasn't much for running all over the place, but how did it feel to be a WindClan cat, with freedom between earth and sky?
